The list is numbered and includes 'fine large Longan variety' ('from Mr Beale's [Thomas Beale, naturalist, merchant and opium speculator in Macao] garden'), Carissa carandas ('black fruit, very sour, from Mr Beale's garden'), an unnamed fruit ('something like a peach, not known, understood [from] Mr Reeves [John Reeves, East India Company tea inspector and naturalist in China] the Society had got a drawing of the same as specimen, from Casa Garden [garden of Manuel Pereira, Portuguese merchant in Macau] last year, Macao [Macau]'), Ficus ('plant trailing and climbing about the rocks, fruit scarlet, Mr Reeves says it's new to him, Lapa hills') and la hang cha ('intensely sweet, when opened smells unpleasant, feels very light to the hand, being merely a mass of seeds, with very little pulp, Chinese use it medicinally, [from] market, Canton [Guangzhou, China]') [here the list includes 58 more fruits]
