Written from Down, Bromley, Kent. Manuscript, in a different hand, signed by Charles Darwin
He thanks Maw for offering to observe for him during his trip [to Gibraltar, Malaga in Spain, and Tangier and Tetouan in Morocco]; he asks him to find out how long after birth the horns of Merino rams appear, and whether there is a breed of sheep in the country where both sexes are horned; he also asks him to find a rare living specimen of Drosophyllum, which grows near Gibraltar; he thanks Maw for his memoir and admires the illustrations
