He wrote to Don on 2 Jun; the packets sent by the Stockton from Sierra Leone have arrived; the packets sent by the James have not arrived yet, but will probably arrive soon; the box of seeds is a very good collection; the plants arrived in excellent order and the fruits and shrubs are very interesting and valuable; they are pleased with Don's collecting which shows evidence of his skill and care in selecting what to send; they look forward to receiving the box of specimens; he hopes to enclose a letter from Don's brother [David Don] who knows Sabine is writing; he has heard from Don's brother than Don is collecting insects; he was fearful Don was neglecting other pursuits of natural history and urges Don to follow exactly his instructions on this point; Council will be disappointed if they cannot present some specimens of natural history collected by Don to the British Museum and the College of Surgeons; he will write to Don again at Jamaica; the numbers affixed to Don's plants and fruits are not distinct enough to enable them to match them to his lists
