List of the contents of boxes of specimens sent by George Don from Sierra Leone to England
The document states that Mr Gunning is a 'passenger per the ship'. Includes a box of Epidendri 'among which there are many curious ones', planted seeds including Elais guinensis [Elaeis guineensis] or oil palm ('the only palm in the neighbourhood'), Sterculia acuminata [Cola acuminata], Anacardium occidentale or cashew apple [cashew], fruits of the butter and tallow tree, 'a box of seeds collected in various ports that I landed at but generally collected at Sierra Leone' and a box of specimens. Includes a note: 'This you will receive fast as the vessel is to stop at the Gambia a fortnight before it sets sail for England'
