Written from Stillyans, Horeham Road, Sussex. Manuscript
She has not seen or heard from Maw in a long time; her daughter-in-law [Edith Nevill, nee Leggatt, wife of Dorothy Nevill’s son Edward Augustus Nevill], who lives nearby, has been taught to make plates and pots of common ware at a nearby pottery, and now has a potter’s wheel; she is doing well, but is anxious to get some glazes for her work; she asks if Maw can help, and if he would recommend a book of instructions on this; her garden has been very blown about but she hopes Maw’s plants, such as the crocuses, are all right. Dated 11th [c.1879-1881; Nevill moved to Stillyans in 1879; other letters from her to Maw in this collection were written c.1874-1881]
