Written from Stillyans, Horeham Road, Sussex. Manuscript
They are very grateful for Maw’s letter; her daughter-in-law [Edith Nevill, nee Leggatt, wife of Dorothy Nevill’s son Edward Augustus Nevill] was taught by the head man at the pottery nearby, where they make the common ware of the county, and have a proper kiln; all her daughter-in-law wants are the glazes, and would be grateful for anything Maw could send; he should direct anything to her at Stillyans, Horeham Road, Sussex, LB South Coast Line [London, Brighton and South Coast Railway]; the weather has been hard on the flowers, but she hopes that the crocuses are safe; they hope to be settled in London by the end of October, where she hopes to see Maw during the winter. Dated 19th [c.1879-1885; Nevill moved to Stillyans in 1879; other letters from her to Maw in this collection were written 1874-1881]
