Scope & content
Written from Lealands, Hellingly, Sussex. Manuscript
Her mother-in-law, Lady Dorothy [Nevill], gave her the coloured glazes Maw sent; she is delighted to have them; she hopes to have the pleasure of meeting him again in the winter and telling him the result; she asks if the clay must be baked before the glaze is painted on, and will assume it is so if she does not hear otherwise; she likes the darkest reds and yellows, but will wait to see how they turn out on their rough clay; she thanks him again. Dated 26 Aug, no year [c.1879-1881; a letter on this topic from Nevill to Maw was written from Stillyans; Nevill moved to Stillyans in 1879; other letters from Nevill to Maw in this collection were written 1874-1881]
