Scope & content
Written from Dangstein, Petersfield. Manuscript
She was pleased to read Maw’s pamphlet; Mr Nevill [Reginald Henry Nevill, her husband] is in London a lot due to his ill health, so she has not been at Dangstein for the last four months; she returned to find things ‘backwards’ but Maw’s plants are flourishing, and the edelweiss is doing well; she asks Maw to visit her at her London home, 45 Charles Street; she is at home in the mornings, and would love a botanist to talk with; she goes to London on Tuesday; she has just finished the pamphlet and thinks Maw must have had an enjoyable time in those parts, and wishes she had been there; she supposes he brought home many treasures; she begins to give up on their soil, which is quite hopeless. Undated [1878 added in a different hand; Maw’s ‘Notes on a botanical tour of the Levant’ were published in pamphlet form in 1877-1878]
