They are pleased to hear of the tribute of affection from the neighbours the Maws have left behind at Broseley; it must have pleased them greatly, and their friends also; they hope the Maws live long and look back on the occasion with satisfaction; he hopes Maw feels great relief from retiring, as he does, though Maw will enjoy it more as he is not leaving behind the happiness of daily interaction with people worth knowing; he supposes Maw will continue working as he did, but he finds the knowledge that he can stop at any time is very enjoyable; they hope that the Maws are settled in and can visit them soon
