He asks if Maw is home yet, and how the croci are going; he wants to consult Maw about hanging the tallies, and whether it would be commercially worthwhile to keep tree tallies in Maw’s hardware in stock; he could select for Maw a few hundred species commonly kept by nurseries and planted by gentlemen; if these were advertised as answering to the Kew Arboretum they should sell well here, in America [United States of America] and in the cooler colonies; he thinks that the upright tallies would be better if the leg were much longer and made of oxidised iron, as those they have are far too low; they are very busy
