He thanks Maw for the account of his trip, the various bulbs, and Fritillaria armena; he is strongly tempted to join Maw in hiring a vessel in the Greek Islands [Greece] for a few weeks over spring, but must focus on what is before him; he goes to Colorado [United States of America] on 28 Jun, and Mrs Hooker will not go with him, which they are both saddened by; he is dreading the American summer heat; before he travels, he has a lot of work to do for the Royal Society, the new Meteorological Council and the Greenwich Observatory, as well as Royal Society receptions and his daughter’s [Harriet Anne Hooker, botanical artist] marriage; Harriet is at Cheltenham, and will be charmed with the embroidery, for which he thanks Maw
