He congratulates Maw on his safe return and success, and thanks him for the bulbs; their croci and other bulbs have done well this year; he showed the enclosed to Stokes [George Stokes, secretary and future president of the Royal Society] as requested, and he is sure it is not new, though a neat illustration of the facts, and does not recommend that it come before the Royal [Royal Society] [enclosure not present]; there is no reason why it should not be sent to another publication; they go to America [United States of America] at the end of June or beginning of July for three months
