He thanks Maw for the Crocus etruscus; it is remarkably distinct in the corm; he is very interested in any accurate knowledge added to crocology; R. Palgrave [Reginald Palgrave, potter, Hooker’s cousin, who designed memorial tablets for Hooker’s father and wife] tells him that Maw agrees that the grey plaques and bodies would be best, and that he will follow Maw’s judgement; he really likes the colour; Palgrave would like a set of the border tiles in blue for himself, and he asks Maw also to give him a set of the plaques, charged to his account; Ball [John Ball, botanist] was there yesterday and means to publish plates of the new Marocco [Morocco] plants in the Linnean journal; the weather has been awful but today is lovely
