The Crocus flowered last year and this year; it is Crocus tingitanus [Crocus serotinus subsp. salzmannii] and is figured for this month’s Magazine; it is similar to Crocus serotinus and that to Crocus autumnalis [Crocus serotinus subsp. clusii]; the Lonicera is Lonicera implexa and is a Mediterranean species; Wilson Saunders [William Wilson Saunders, botanist] writes in great spirits from Maw’s encouragement of his collection; he thanks Maw for his sympathy for his recent loss [of his mother] and wishes he could ‘shake himself up again’ with another trip with Maw
