They send their baggage with this letter; he asks that Martin [proprietor of the Royal Victoria Hotel, Tangier] pay the guide accompanying Mahomed [Hadj Bel Mohammed, their interpreter] one dollar, but not to pay the muleteers until they arrive; he asks Maw to open Ball’s [John Ball, botanist] case and remove the parcels of plants; they hope to be at Tangiers [Tangier, Morocco] before this reaches Maw.
