He thanks Maw for his account of his trip to Corsica [France]; he has been very busy writing ‘Student’s British Flora’ [‘The student’s flora of the British Isles’, published by Macmillan] and only sent the final sheets off this morning; Maw’s letter was so good that he wanted to read it at the Linnean Society but did not want to do so without permission; he thinks the 'Gardener’s Chronicle' would gladly print it if Maw will allow; he never knew half as much about Corsica; he does not know if Maw is back from Spain yet, and hopes his trip has been as interesting as his trip to Corsica was; there have been further changes to the herbaceous grounds at Kew, and he hopes Maw will visit soon
