Mr Smith [John Smith, curator at Kew] will return the labels as desired; they will be glad to have them mounted with iron backs; he wishes he could join Maw on his trip to Auvergne [France] where the seed harvest will be good; they would welcome some seeds at Kew; Maw should visit Mr Le Cocq [Henri Lecoq], whose Botanical Museum at Clermont [Clermont-Ferrand, France] is recommended by Mr Oliver [Daniel Oliver, librarian of the Kew Herbarium]; he just figured and described Maw’s specimen of Cotyledon salzmannii [Pistorinia breviflora] for the ‘Botanical Magazine’; it is one of the loveliest rock plants; he is finally rearranging the herbaceous grounds; they are pulling down old houses, building new potting sheds and rearranging that part of the garden
