Sepia-tinted photographic postcard showing a view of the Cliff gardens in Goodrington, Paignton. Ink: [personal message] [address in Weston-super-Mare supplied]. Paignton, originally a fishing village, but after the opening of the railway in 1859 it became a tourist destination and expanded until in 1998 it was included with Torquay in the borough of Torbay. The cliffside walk was constructed in 1929-31, with assistance from Herbert Whitley of the Paignton Zoo
