Queen's Park, Swindon, was laid out on the site of the Brick and Tile Works in Swindon New Town, bought by the Council after the Second World War and designed by the borough architect J. Loring-Morgan with the parks superintendent Maurice J. Williams; the Garden of Remembrance was opened in 1950, and the rest of the park in 1953. The show house, a conservatory designed by Loring-Morgan in 1960-3, was damaged by storms in the early 1990s and partly demolished
