Uncoloured real photo postcard of a view of the lake in Wimbledon Park. Wimbledon Park was originally a manor house whose grounds were landscaped by Capability Brown, but from the 1840s the estate began to be sold off for urban development. The remaining area of parkland with Brown's lake was purchased by Wimbledon Council in 1914, but had already been used for sports and public access before that time
