Ruskin Park was designed by Col. J.J. Sexby and opened in 1907; it consisted of the gardens of three adjacent properties on Denmark Hill. The portico of 170 Denmark Hill was retained because it had London's largest wisteria growing on it (pruned 1990s and now no longer extant). The park was extended in 1910 to provide more playing fields
