The Terrace Gardens in Richmond were originally a group of three houses, which were bought by the Richmond Vestry and turned into a park, opened in 1887. Among the properties was Buccleuch House, and the fifth Duke of Buccleuch (President of the RHS 1862-73) may have played a part in the development of the gardens
