Coloured postcard of the view of the Thames from the Terrace and Buccleuch Gardens, Richmond. Pencil: My dear Jen[?], Ian Hamish & I have come to Richmond park today. its nothot but at least no rain. The deer run wild here & Hamish has been chasing them for hours Ian has written I believe & I will be doing so within the next few days. Love from us all Sheila [address in Glasgow supplied]. The Terrace Gardens in Richmond were originally a group of three houses, which were bought by the Richmond Vestry and turned into a park, opened in 1887. Among the properties was Buccleuch House, and the fifth Duke of Buccleuch (President of the RHS 1862-73) may have played a part in the development of the gardens
