Coloured postcard showing a view of flower beds and the magnesia well in the Valley Gardens, Harrogate. The Valley Gardens, Harrogate, were laid out on an area of mineral springs; a competition for the design of the park was held in 1887, without a clear winner, so the Corporation drew up a composite plan based on the competition entries. The Harrogate Spring Flower Show was held in these gardens from the mid-20th century
