Christchurch Park, Ipswich, was opened in 1895 as the town's first public park; it had originally been Augustinian priory land, and then after the dissolution, the site of Christchurch Mansion. It incorporates the Upper Arboretum, a private subscription garden opened in 1853 and acquired for the town in 1928, as well as the Lower Arboretum, acquired in 1922
