Coloured postcard showing a view of the promenade at Cleveleys, including the rockery seats. Cleveleys became a popular seaside resort in the early 20th century, as an extension to the Blackpool development. A war memorial was unveiled in 1923, surrounded by Memorial Gardens, which formed one terminus of the development. The new promenade was opened in 1927, and boasted electric lights and a rockery with seating. The Jubilee Gardens, on the site of Wilkinson's Beach Camp, were opened in 1937. In the 21st century, a project under the supervision of Stuart Ryder re-landscaped the promenade area, and Anchorsholme Park was much altered in the course of refurbishment to the sewerage system
