Uncoloured postcard of Leicester Square, looking toward the Empire Theatre. Leicester Square was originally laid out in 1670. In 1873 Albert Grant (1831-1899) bought the square and had it re-landscaped before donating it to the Metropolitan Board of Works in 1874. It was re-landscaped in preparation for the London Olympics of 2012
