Peel Park, Bradford, was commissioned in memory of Sir Robert Peel, who died in 1850; funds were raised from private subscribers, and the park was opened in 1853; it was apparently designed by T. Dixon, whose signature appears on early plans, but was probably modified later by William Gay to include a terrace
