Coloured postcard of the Locke Tower in Locke Park, Barnsley, with flower beds in the foreground. Locke Park was originally known as People's Park, and opened in 1862, apparently laid out by the engineer John Edward Errington of Locke & Errington. The park was extended in 1874, with the architect Richard Phene Spiers building Locke Tower and overseeing the layout, which was carried out by William Barron & Son
