She is reluctant to trouble him, but would one of his officials send her a postcard with a note of where she can obtain a double flowering cherry, Prunus pseudocerasus, and whether it is too late to plant it this year; also if it is possible to obtain a Japanese prune with a pale pink double flower and if it would flourish in the north of England; about 20 years ago Mr Ruskin [John Ruskin] bought four at the Crystal Palace which flourished in their Herne Hill garden; two have died and the remaining two are dying as a result of the London smoke and increased population around them
