Written from Thorpe Hall, Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex. Manuscript
She was disappointed not to make Robinson’s acquaintance today when she visited Gravetye, as he was unwell; Mr Markham showed her all the treasures and she names her favourites; she asked Mr Markham for some cuttings and will send him some of her own; her garden is still in the making after 40 years of neglect; nine of the 15 years she has had it were a washout ‘between wartime and Canada’; Robinson’s charming nurse gave them tea for which they were grateful
Dated 29 Jun, no year [c.1928; Thorpe Hall was bought by Julian Byng in 1913; Evelyn Byng writes she has had it for 15 years]
