Uncoloured postcard of the Burns Monument in Alloway, Ayr, and a view of a garden. The Burns Monument and Memorial Gardens in Alloway, now a suburb of Ayr, were created in the early 19th century. The monument, by Thomas Hamilton, was built between 1820 and 1823. Burns' Cottage, with its own garden, was soon incorporated into the site
