Miss Dickenson says that the original roots of the Narcissus from which this drawing was made in June 1886 were got at Prudoe Castle. She grew them in her garden at Newcastle as long back as she can remember. She took the roots thence to Melrose, about 1859, was 11 years there and in 1869 took them to Norham. She says she thinks they are the old fashioned N Poeticus of gardens. She can remember them back 45 years'
