The RHS Herbarium currently holds 824 Narcissi specimens within its collection, with almost 90% of these collected from the UK. 540 different cultivars are represented with the highest number being Narcissus 'Wisley'. The material for this specimen was collected as part of the Narcissus Trial carried out by the RHS between 2006 and 2007. During collection an extra flower is taken so that it can be dissected to show its internal structures. Dissecting the plant at the time of collection means the specimen can provide useful comparative information for future research without the need to damage the original material collected.
