Scope & content: He acknowledges receipt of a letter dated 29 Sep; the missing box of seeds from Mr Hartweg [Theodor Hartweg] from Vera Cruz [Veracruz, Mexico] arrived in London on the Thames; the bill of £60 5s was received and attended to; two packages from California [United States of America] were lost during the capture of a coasting vessel between Mazatlan [Mexico] and San Blas [?Mexico or California] by an American cruiser, but it is hoped that 'from the measures adopted by the Society through the American minister that their offices in the Pacific will hereafter afford every assistance in their power to forward the objects of Mr Hartweg's mission'
