There have been 'considerable difficulties' in the transmission of packages of living plants from Tampico [Mexico], and they have been told that four boxes have been sent to Vera Cruz [Veracruz, Mexico]; this letter will be forwarded by Mr Strangways [William Fox-Strangways, British under-secretary of state for foreign affairs], to ask for assistance in avoiding 'the serious loss, which would accrue to the Society' if those boxes were delayed; their agents Messrs Munoz, Matfield & Co [Messrs Munoz, Matfield & Co, merchants in Mexico] have instructions for shipping the packages, but they are worried that the boxes at Tampico are held due to the French blockade, and they require advice on how to handle the situation; enclosed are copies of two letters from the secretary of the Admiralty [enclosures not present], dated 18 Aug 1836 and 3 Jul 1838, with instructions for the commanders of HM packets [ships]
