Annotated at the top of the page: 'Joseph Sabine received Novr 7, 1822'
He has sent a box of plants from Trinidad with Captain Knight [Christopher Knight, captain of HMS Morgiana] of the Morgiana; the ship will arrive at Portsmouth in about 35 days, when Knight will take this note to the post office; he has requested that Knight board the box on a Portsmouth coach to London for Joseph; if Joseph wishes the box to be sent in any other manner he should write to Knight, whose address will be at Portsmouth; they sail from the Port of Spain [Trinidad and Tobago] on the 4 or 5 [Oct], and will stop for one day at the Pitch Lake [Trinidad] and mud volcanoes, 'where Don [George Don] will be landed to herbalize'; Mr Lockhart [David Lockhart, gardener of the British governor of Trinidad, Ralph Woodford] will accompany them
