Letter No 20
He arrived to the mouth of the Min River [Fujian] in an English vessel and from there to the city in a Chinese boat; he is so far unable to say anything about the local flora due to heavy rains and flooding, but will give more information in his next letter; he enclosed seeds, including Shantung cabbage [Brassica rapa], in his previous letter from Shanghai [China]; he encloses a duplicate of that letter and two packets of seeds [enclosures not present]; he will send this letter overland to Amoy [Xiamen, Fujian, China] by the Chinese post; he thinks he will be ready to leave China for England in December
