Letter No 13
He shipped six previously mentioned cases of plants on board the Dumfries bound for Liverpool today; he encloses a bill of lading [enclosure not present]; he did not succeed in sending them on a ship to London, but decided to take the opportunity of sending them to England, instead of being 'over-particular about the port'; he is careful in choosing vessels on the basis of their captains, and feels confident that Captain Thornhill [Robert Thornhill] of the Duke of Bedford and Captain Thompson [captain of the Dumfries] will take good care of the boxes; he promises to send a longer letter by mail when he has time
