He has arranged for his son [John Russell Reeves junior, employed by the British East India Company] to give Lindley the letters of credit for the use of Mr Fortune [Robert Fortune] in China; any money given to Fortune in England should be in Carolus dollars [Spanish-American peso] and not Mexican; he is willing to be of assistance on the committee after his duties as a witness at a trial
