Unmounted medium format colour slide of diplomat and plantsman Sir David Scott (1887-1986) with a large basket of his old roses in his garden at the Dower House (Boughton House). He is standing next to Carpenteria californica planted by his mother, Ada Mary Montagu Douglas Scott (nee Ryan) (1855-1943) in 1911. Ink inscription on sleeve on recto: 'Sir David Scott at Boughton aged 90'; 'at'; '580'; 'with old roses from his garden and Carpenteria planted in 1911'; '580'. Ink on recto crossed out: '570'. Address supplied. Full name: Sir David John Montagu Douglas Scott. Valerie Finnis married David Scott in 1970 and moved into his home, the Dower House, part of Boughton House and one of the seats of the Duke of Buccleuch. Finnis lived at the Dower House after Sir David's death in 1986 until her own death in 2006
