Nathaniel Norman Sherwood (1846-1916), commonly referred to as N.N. Sherwood, was born in France. He became a partner in the seed house of Hurst & Son, and eventually its sole proprietor. He became President of the National Sweet Pea Society, Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, and a Council member of the RHS, as well as a member of the RHS Fruit & Vegetable Committee.
