James O'Brien (1842-1930) was Orchid and plant foreman for Mr R.S. Holford at Westonbirt, and later general foreman to Messrs E.G. Henderson and Son, of Wellington Road, St John's Wood and the Pineapple Nurseries of Maida Vale. He was Secretary of the RHS Orchid Committee 1889-1923.
