Black and white full-length seated studio portrait of Ninian Niven. Ink inscription on recto, 'Faithfully Yours N. Niven'. Ninian Niven (1799-1879), born in Ireland, was Director of the Royal Dublin Society's Botanic Gardens at Glasnevin, and later a nurseryman and landscape gardener. His son was James Craig Niven, curator of the Hull Botanic Gardens.
