P.P.O. offert Viro clarissimo Dri Maxwell T. Masters'. August Kanitz (1843-1896) was a Hungarian botanist. He wrote works on the flora of Montenegro, Bosnia and Serbia, and of Romania. He was an elected member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and was made Knight of the Order of the Crown of Romania. In 1872 Kanitz was appointed Professor of Botany at Franz Joseph University and in 1877 he founded the Magyar Novenytani Lapok (Hungarian Journal of Botany) which he edited until 1892..
