Printed inscription on verso, 'The Negative of this Portrait is preserved and additional Copies can be supplied. Monkhouse & Co. 4 Lendal, York'. Henry Baines (1793-1878) was Curator of the Museum Gardens in York in 1830, where he worked until his retirement in 1870
