He received the issue of Robinson’s ‘Trees and Forests’ [‘Woods and Forests’]; he worries about the strain of editing two such periodical as this and ‘The Garden’; Lord Dufferin is an old acquaintance of his and he saw his excellent nature in his paper; he lent the issue to a neighbour who advocates drainage as the remunerative kind of labour needed in Ireland; he was surprised by the variety of topics that ‘Trees’ and their propagation supplies; he is trying to collect information for Robinson about this Park [Richmond Park], which formed part of the extensive deer-tract called Sheen Chase; Henry VII built on the ruins of Sheen Palace, then Charles I recovered some of the old Chase and built the Park wall
