He had ‘The Wild Garden’ in his hands this morning, and it gave him ideas for additions in his gardens; he is comforted by Robinson’s support of a style that in his own garden has sometimes elicited expressions of compassion; he is unsure where to obtain certain plants suggested by Robinson, and asks him to order any suitable plants to be sent to him by post or rail, with a note of cost and required treatment; he may have to dig a hole in his gravel to put in some soil; he will remind Robinson when he is in the ‘summer phase’
