In the second edition of ‘The English Flower Garden’ Robinson writes disrespectfully of the Scilla verna; Robinson has opened the eyes of many people to the beauty of British wild flowers; Maxwell is sending an example of the squill which is a favourite and grows abundantly on the coast though it does not grow tall; in the flower border it spreads and produces grey-blue flowers earlier than in the wild; these contrast favourably with the Queen of Spain narcissus
