Written from Chenesiton House, Kensington Gardens, [London] SW. Manuscript
Robinson was kind to send him an interesting cutting from ‘The Garden’ giving an account of ‘our Egyptian Garden Evening’; he is thankful the fiendish looking insert does not come from ‘the old country’ but from Germany; he thanks Robinson for his wish to see him; he has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for some years; his wife is well and staying at Sturminster Newton vicarage; he still has two surviving fellow Naval lieutenants, aged 90, who served with him in the flag ship of Sir E. Lyons in the Black Sea [Crimean War]; he hopes Robinson lives to see ‘this wicked war end in victory’
